Deity

Deities are the highest ranking Divine Beings, entities capable of shaping reality to meet their own ends. It's not totally known where deities come from, as they seem to simply wake up one day with full knowledge of their powers.
Though their abilities are far beyond mortal understanding, they still have limits. They are not omniscient or omnipotent. They can even die. Deities are able to pursue any goals they wish, with only the Eternal Laws to restrain them.
All deities can create Divine Beings to serve them, the most common of which are the various types of angels. These divine beings can take many forms, but usually have a base form that's incomprehensible to mortals.
There are two "types" of deity: Worldly Deities and Wandering Deities.
Worldly Deities
edit edit sourceThese deities are 'born' as planets. They typically have physical avatars, which contain a decent amount of their power, and harm done to this avatar represents harm done to the planet as a whole (though most mortal means cannot meaningfully harm a deity's avatar.) These deities can shape their world and create life on it, though what they do with these options is entirely up to them.
Some planets may have multiple host deities. These are called a Pantheon, and are a sort of "Family" of deities.
Their health is directly tied to the health of their planet. If the planet is overcome with war, disease, corruption, or mana, they may suffer and eventually die.
Worldly Deities are most often worshiped by their creations. Denizens of other worlds most likely will never learn of deities from other planets.

Wandering Deities
edit edit sourceThese deities are 'born' drifting through the cosmos. Their appearances vary wildly, depending on their origin or their Domains. They might appear as a star, a nebula, a constellation, or a rogue planet. They might also appear as a colossal creature, the locals of a world they're visiting, or adopt a strange form of their own invention.
These deities might be able to influence the creation of celestial bodies, the flow of time, or when and where shards are created. They're not bound to a specific world, and tend to roam the cosmos seeking out a resolution to whatever goals they've set for themselves. However, this means they have no Pantheons for themselves, and they cannot create life to shape and guide.
Wanderers are sometimes learned about and worshiped by mortals.
Cendaran is an example of a Wandering Deity.
